Product FAQs

What fabric do you use?

We use 100% cotton and avoid synthetic fabrics. Our textured cotton features a slightly uneven weave, giving each tea towel a natural, artisanal look and feel.

What are the dimensions of your tea towels?

Our tea towels measure approximately 50 x 70 cm and will shrink to approximately 48 x 64 cm. They are ideal for use in the kitchen and also a good size for the guest bathroom.

Is the cotton you use organic?

At present, our fabrics are not certified organic, but we are exploring this option.

What kind of dye do you use?

We use azo-free dyes, which are considered a more sustainable alternative to conventional synthetic dyes. These dyes are free from harmful azo compounds, making them safer for the artisans, the environment, and for you.

Are your tea towels absorbent?

Yes ! Clients have commented on how well our towels dry.

Are your products stain resistant? What should I do if I stain my product?

Our products are not treated with stain-repellent chemicals, so they are not stain-resistant. If your item gets stained, we recommend applying a stain remover directly to the stain (or using terre d’argile for grease stains). Wash at 30°–40°C (hotter water as this may set the stain into the fabric).

Will the prints fade?

Gradual fading over time is normal. We use azo-free dyes and print our designs on top of the fabric rather than dyeing deep into the fibers. Many clients love the vintage look that naturally develops — similar to a well-loved pair of denim jeans or a sun-exposed painting. To slow fading, wash at low temperatures (ideally 30°C, max 40°C) and use a mild liquid detergent such as Woolite, an eco-friendly soap, or a detergent made for babies.

At what temperature should I wash the products?

We recommend washing all Bindia K. products at a maximum of 40°C.

Can I place Bindia K. products in the dryer?

We do not recommend using a dryer, as it can cause additional shrinkage and may accelerate fading. Bindia K. cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by tumble drying.

Do the tea towels need to be ironed?

Our 100% cotton products are not chemically treated to reduce wrinkles. However, if you remove them promptly from the washing machine and smooth them out before air drying, there should not be any stubborn wrinkles. The edges of our kitchen towels are sewn to prevent curling during washing.

Are your products ethical and eco-friendly?

Yes — we work with organizations we know and trust. We've personally visited their offices and ateliers and met the founders behind the work, as well as some of the artisans. We only collaborate with partners who share our values of treating people with dignity and respect. We and our partners do our best to minimize environmental harm. All of our dyes are azo-free, and we use 100% cotton (not synthetic fabrics) for our products.
